Spike2 version 3 logo

Overview

Spike2 laboratory software delivers powerful data capture and analysis, stimulus sequencing and experimental control using one of the CED family of data acquisition peripherals. Specifically developed for life science research, Spike2 is already used in hundreds of laboratories world-wide for a diverse range of applications. Version 3 is the latest release of this versatile tool.

Spike2 records up to 19 channels as a combination of waveform, event, digital marker, notepad, keyboard marker and templated spikes. Different waveform channels can be sampled to disk continuously at independent frequencies up to an aggregate rate of 166kHz.

Spike2 has menu functions for fast manipulation of data and drawing modes as well as analysis for event processing, including INTH, PSTH and event correlations.

Waveform analysis includes averaging, spectral analysis, waveform discrimination and cursor measurement facilities for areas, mean and gradient. Export of data to industry standard text and graphic formats is supported.

Future Spike2 improvements
Future upgrades of Spike2 version 3 will be available free of charge as downloads from our Web site or alternatively by contacting CED directly. Future additions include built-in Finite Impulse Response filtering and output of arbitrary waveforms both on and off-line.

New script features

Eye-movement and pharmacological experiments benefit greatly from the new XY views. These views, controlled by the Spike2 script language, contain up to 256 channels of x,y data points drawn in a shared window. Channels are independent of each other and there is no limit to the number of data points each may have, except for available memory. Measurements of data points lying within areas and other common calculations are supported directly. XY views can be saved, printed and copied directly to the clipboard for use in other applications.
Context sensitive help and syntax colouring to highlight key words aid users in customising Spike2 for their own experiments. New editing features include split text views and bookmarks. Debugging and editing toolbars also make script generation faster. New Spike2 Time$()and Date$() commands can time stamp documents using the system clock. Output sequencer extensions enable the user to monitor input waveforms and events in real-time, and act on their condition.
