Dynamic clamp update rate

Unread postby ewanfowler » 08 Oct 2020, 16:02

Hi,

Can I please clarify what the update rate is for current being returned to the cell during dynamic clamp experiments with 1 model using a Power1401-3A? http://ced.co.uk/products/sigdcmp says 320 kHz for one HH model but I'm not sure if that's what's being sampled or the DAC output being updated. What would the sampling rate be in this case?

Cheers,
Ewan

Hi Ewan,

The DAC updates during dynamic clamping are closely linked to the ADC sampling so as to minimise latency, what happens is that the dynamic clamp update routines are called immediately after a set of ADC samples is taken. So the ADC rate is the dynamic clamp update rate and you change both by setting the ADC rate.

Hi Tim,

Perfect thanks for the clarification!

Cheers
